End of year update

I wasn't very good at posting updates this year, so I will once again go through the whole list quickly to see how I have been doing..

1. Become a full-time professional writer.
I don't know if I will become a full-time writer, but I did take a big step regarding the book I have been planning for a while. I am very excited, but I rather not go into details here yet.

2. Get rid of binge-eating syndrome.
It sort of got worse after my pregnancy/miscarriage earlier this year, but hopefully that will change in 2010!

3. Write a book on food.
That's the project I am going to work on now which I mentioned in number 1.

4. Write the two children's books that are in my head.
The one that is practially done (in Portuguese) needs improvement, plus an illustrator and a publisher.

5. Get something published by a big publisher.
There is a project (not the one in number 1) that has attracted some interest here in Brazil, but it is temporarily halted due to other priorities.

6. Finish the book my dad was never able to complete.
Nothing done in that respect yet.

7. Finish four other writing projects on my list.
...

8. Go 100% raw for 60 days or longer and decide whether it is really what I want for life.
Still haven't surpassed day 21.

9. Try the 80/10/10 raw food style.
Have been trying it and loving it for over a year. I don't know if I want to be on it 100% all the time, but I do want to stay longer periods on it (see above).

10. Finish fixing up my house, take advantage of it for a while and then...
A lot got done, but a lot still needs to be done.

11. Move to the place of my dreams (or stay here if I think that was the place of my dreams after all).
Still confused about that, but more accepting of my current situation. Less anxious about having to know the answer right now.

12. Have my dream office.
Very related to the previous item.

13. Give homeschooling (or unschooling) a try.
Tried it for another semester and it was a great experience, but will have to stop because Brazilian law does not allow it after my son turns six.

14. Make more progress in my "ecolifestyle" and come up with a list of things to change and how to do it.
More progress on that, but I should post separtely about it.

15. Go no-poo once and for all.
After several months using diluted lemon juice, I stopped because my hair looked awful and was very dry. Went back to the regular stuff but plan to find some sort of natural (and affordable) shampoo.

16. Get our family to be zero-waste.
Close.

17. Also erradicate those plastic bags completely, once and for all.
Still trying.

18. Go back to 100% composting in our yard.
Still burying everything, but not really composting.

19. Have and/or adopt a 2nd child.
Got pregnant a few months ago and had a miscarriage. Still trying.

10. Finish fixing up our house...

There was an unbelievable amount of leaves accumulated on our roof!

Our house renovation FINALLY started today. The first step was to clean up the roof, which was loaded with leaves and full of leaky areas. Tomorrow they will exchange broken tiles and do some other necessary stuff.

78. Have professional photos taken of myself and family

I just realized this was the first thing that happened and I never wrote it down! We were still in Canada and participated in a promotional offer at a department store. Even though it has been a long time, we still haven't seen the photos because they were only going to be ready after we were back in Brazil, so a friend who was coming back a few weeks later picked them up for us (and we still haven't seen her).

20. Do water gymnastics during my pregnancy

Source: http://mamaevaiascompras.blogspot.com

As with massage, still not pregnant yet, but enrolled in water gymnastics. I am so happy that a class started right near my house!!

84. Learn Reiki

Source: http://zephyrusprana.wordpress.com/energia/reiki/
I was initiated last month. This month my son did the course too. Even though he is only four he seems to understand what it is all about. The teacher has a lot of experience with children and they had loads of fun. I confess I haven't been using it too much on myself, but I apply it on other people when asked (and my son asks for it every evening before going to bed).
